TSC produced learning materials that could be delivered flexibly to around 70,000 employees located in warehousing facilities in more than 1000 locations across the globe and for people in driver roles. The learning was delivered over a 12-month period, either during a team meeting, facilitated by the manager, or as an individual learning experience accessed via PowerPoint.

This initiative was delivered alongside other programmes as part of a multi-year partnership with **GXO**.

## Challenge

GXO needed cyber security training for people in non-IT-enabled roles. The challenge was to make the training relevant for people in specific roles and time efficient as people have strict requirements relating to when and where training should be accessed.

GXO required a programme that was between 5 and 10 minutes in length, was wholly related to their environment and learning that contained specific risk points for this specific section of the workforce.

## Insight or assessment

Before the development of the training and associated resources, TSC had a series of meetings with key stakeholders to understand the organisational context, the programme objectives and the main challenges. These discussions also included details about the ‘type’ of learning (e.g. face-to-face, eLearning or self-directed learning) that would be best suited and how to record completion rates with facilitated learning.

## Solution

Based on the findings, TSC designed a bespoke programme, with the creation of 3 short animations. The animations followed a social engineer who compromised a warehousing facility. The story progressed with identifying the information that was most useful to the social engineer and how that information was used in an attack. This was an interactive learning experience as each video had a rewind button, and learners identified the things that helped or hindered the social engineer.

The animations were embedded into a PowerPoint, allowing for self-directed break points for discussion. There was also a facilitator pack embedded in the PowerPoint, therefore enabling any team leader, manager or trainer to be able to facilitate the session. The learning was tailored to the organisation’s risks, policies, audiences and brand.

## Approach

### Relevant

The content was wholly reflective of GXO environments and employee roles, highlighting real threats and reaffirming organisational policies and procedures.

### Measurable

The learning was measured both qualitatively and quantitatively. The actual experience was measured by facilitators based on the discussions they had during the sessions and feedback at the conclusion of the learning. Each facilitator was required to send an attendance list to the Learning Team for logging completions onto the central system.

### Sustainable

This programme provided point-in-time training that could be revisited during any team meeting. If any security incident occurred the feedback was provided to the team and a refresh of the animation was replayed again, to reinforce learning.

---

## Result

### Outcome summary

The successful delivery of the programme gave the security team stronger working relationships with the delivery teams and warehouse staff, with clearer lines of communication about the latest threats and mitigating actions. The training served to shift the perception of ‘cyber training’ from one of thinking that it isn’t relevant to a genuine understanding of how cyber threats can manifest from a physical security breach.

> # “The training is great and has been well received. For people who missed the team meeting, we now need a version that doesn’t require facilitation”
